Kohala Zipline

For guests looking to add a little adventure to their Big Island stay, Kohala Zipline offers a fun and memorable way to experience the island’s lush northern landscapes from above the forest canopy. Located near the charming town of Hawi, this excursion combines scenic beauty, fresh mountain air, and the excitement of soaring through the trees together.

It’s a wonderful choice for guests who enjoy active experiences, family adventures, and seeing a different side of Hawaiʻi beyond the beaches and resorts.

About the Experience

Kohala Zipline is located in North Kohala near Hawi, approximately 35 to 45 minutes from Hale Mele by car. The drive itself is part of the experience, taking guests along the scenic Kohala Coast and into the greener countryside of North Hawaiʻi.

The canopy tour includes eight ziplines, six sky bridges, and a rappel, making it one of the more immersive zipline experiences on Hawaiʻi Island. Guests can choose between the approximately three-hour Kohala Canopy Adventure or the longer “Zip and Dip” experience, which includes lunch, a short hike, and a swim beneath a private waterfall.

As guests move from tree to tree through the forest canopy — sometimes reaching speeds up to 45 MPH — they’ll experience sweeping views, cooler upland air, and the natural beauty of Kohala’s landscape from a unique perspective. The experience is designed for a range of skill levels and combines adventure with the peaceful beauty of the surrounding forest.

Participants must generally be at least 8 years old and meet the listed weight requirements of approximately 70 to 270 pounds.
